The Alps

The Piedmont region is almost entirely surrounded by the Alps. The 2006 Turin Winter Games showed the world the incredible cultural and naturalistic patrimony of this area, but the Piedmont Alps have a lot more to offer than downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and sledding. People come here to canoe on the Sesia, Orco, Stura di Lanzo and Dora Baltea rivers, mountain bike, hang glide, paraglide, hike, rock climb and ski off-trail. Or you can just enjoy the monumental nature of the mountains, made of large open spaces, silence and freedom.

Piedmont has been successful in preserving the cultural and gastronomic traditions rooted in its valleys, traditions which testify to the quality of life and the richness of frugal mountain living; traditions filled with strong and unique flavours: wine and cheese, wild berries, chestnuts, potatoes, game, fresh meat, desserts and herb liquors. Combine this with the international excellence of the white truffle of the Langhe, mushrooms, the precious chestnuts that are obtained from the choicest chestnut groves, regal cheeses such as Castelmagno, toma, Raschera, Seirass and you'll get an idea of what this area has to offer your palate.

The mountains of Turin offer sports and wellbeing, nature and tranquillity, beautiful views and unique flavours.
