Vittorio Veneto Square

1200 feet long and 365 feet wide this square was designed in 1825 by the architect Giuseppe Frizzi. With over 330,000 square feet of space it's one of the largest squares in Europe and is the largest square with arcades. Every year the traditional celebration for Turin's patron saint, Saint John the Baptist, takes place here replete with a scenic fireworks display over the river. It's also often used for cultural events of various types from ski jump exhibitions to antique fairs under the arcades. On summer evenings the square and the adjacent banks of the Po are crowded as people throng to the numerous nightclubs along the river.
